Renewal Main Line

Privacy Policy

Effective October 24, 2026

Renewal Presbyterian Church of the Main Line (“Renewal”, “we”) runs the website at renewalmainline.org and the Renewal Main Line mobile app. This page explains what information they collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We collect only what is needed to serve the congregation, and we never sell information or use it for advertising.

Visiting the website

You can read the website without an account. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not set tracking cookies. Our server keeps technical error logs, which may include an IP address, for a short time to keep the site secure. Some pages embed a Google map or link to YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify; those services have their own privacy policies.

Church email list

When you join the email list we keep your email address, your name if you give it, when you confirmed, and how you joined (website, app, a member’s one-tap subscribe, or a paper form entered by staff). You confirm your address by clicking a link we email you before anything else is sent. We use the list only for church announcements, events and the weekly bulletin. Every email has an unsubscribe link. The list is mirrored to Mailchimp, which delivers the emails on our behalf. When you unsubscribe we keep a record of that so you are not added again by mistake.

Member accounts

Signing in uses your Google or Apple account. We receive your name, email address and profile picture from them; we never see your password. New accounts start as “pending” until a church administrator confirms you are part of the congregation. Signing in sets a session cookie on the website, or stores a sign-in token securely on your phone in the app; both are strictly necessary and are removed when you sign out.

Member directory

The directory is opt-in. You decide whether to be listed at all and which details to show: email, phone, address, household and community group. It is visible only to approved members who are signed in, and only the details you chose to show are ever sent to their browser or app. You can change or remove your listing at any time under My listing.

Ministry teams

If you serve on a church team such as the session, the diaconate or a ministry team, the website reads that team’s membership from the church’s Google Workspace groups so it can show you the team’s announcements, documents and roster. The website only reads those groups; it never changes them.

Reimbursements

If you ask the church to reimburse an expense, we keep the amount, date, vendor, what the purchase was for, which ministry budget it belongs to, the name the payment should go to and how you would like to be paid (for example a Venmo handle). We never store bank account or card numbers. Receipt photos and PDFs are stored on our server with photo metadata such as location removed. A request is visible only to you, the leaders responsible for that ministry’s budget, the church’s finance volunteers and administrators. Reimbursement records are kept as part of the church’s financial records.

Who else sees information

Church staff and volunteers see what their role needs: administrators approve accounts, editors manage announcements and the bulletin, finance volunteers see reimbursements. We use these providers to run the site and app, and they process information only for us: Google (Workspace, Sign in with Google, Calendar and Drive for backups), Apple (Sign in with Apple), Mailchimp (email delivery) and Linode by Akamai (hosting, on servers in the United States). We may disclose information when the law requires it.

Security and retention

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Every members-only page and API checks who you are and whether your access is still active on every request, so access can be removed immediately. We make nightly backups and keep them for a limited time. We keep your email-list entry until you unsubscribe, your account until you ask us to delete it, your directory listing until you remove it, and reimbursement records for as long as the church’s financial record-keeping requires.

Your choices

Children

The website and app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them online. Information about children’s ministry participants is handled by the children’s ministry directly, not through the website or app. If you believe a child has given us information online, email us and we will remove it.

The mobile app

The app shows the same events, announcements, sermons and members-only information as the website and uses the same sign-in. It stores only your sign-in token on the device, contains no advertising or analytics software, and asks for the camera or photo library only when you attach a receipt to a reimbursement request. Sermon audio is streamed from our server.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Questions: contact@renewalmainline.org, or write to Renewal Presbyterian Church of the Main Line, PO Box 602, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
